AI visibility is the AI-era counterpart to search rankings. It asks: when someone asks an AI tool a question in your area, do you appear in the answer, are you named, and is your site linked?
Unlike search ranking, there is no single list to read your position from. Answers vary by question, wording, location and product, and can change between two runs. Measurement is usually done by testing a fixed set of realistic questions on a regular schedule, recording whether and how you are mentioned or cited (AI citation), and watching referral traffic from AI tools in your analytics.
Treat the numbers as indicators, not exact scores. Improving visibility comes back to being easy to crawl (AI crawler), clear and trustworthy to read, and genuinely useful.
